Heat Recovery Ventilators in Schererville, IN

A heat recovery ventilator (HRV) is an installation that few people know about that could save you from a lot of discomfort all year round and for many years to come. The installation of this device lets the fresh air in without having any major effect on your comfort. When you have a heat recovery ventilator in your home, you get all of the benefits of opening up a window to make a room less stuffy, without so much of the energy loss (or the effort).

Call Earl's Heating & Air Conditioning to learn more about heat recovery ventilators or to schedule an installation for your home. We carry some of the very finest products, and we want to help you to find one that is the right fit for your HVAC system. Your heat recovery ventilator will add some energy usage to your HVAC system, but the amount is little compared to what would happen if you used the doors and windows to ventilate. As trusted local indoor air quality system installers in Schererville, we’re happy to answer your questions or schedule you an appointment. It’s all a matter of pride!

What Is a Heat Recovery Ventilator?

The easiest way to describe a heat recovery ventilator is by what it does for your home. A heat recovery ventilator (HRV system) uses a heat exchanger to bring fresh air into your home without affecting your energy bills too much. Opening a window or all of the doors would force your air conditioner or your heater to struggle, but a heat exchanger helps the HRV to pull in fresh air without making your system run continuously.

As fresh air enters your home through vents in the wall, stale air from your HVAC system is forced out of the home. In the winter, the stale air in your home is warm, and this heat transfers to the fresh air coming in before it enters your heating system. In the summer, the air in your home is cool from the AC. You don’t want the warm air from outside to heat up your home, so the heat from the incoming fresh air stream transfers to the stale air before it vacates the home.

Do I Need an HRV System?

Heat recovery ventilators are an excellent option for many homeowners in the Schererville area. Around here, we keep our windows and doors shut for much of the year. A lack of fresh air can make a home feel stuffy, leading to some indoor air quality issues that are tough to describe. An excess of contaminants in the air of your home requires the help of an air filtration system or air purifier. But if stale, stuffy air is your problem, an ERV is right for you.
